ACE Group Fitness Instructor & Certified Personal Trainer
As a child I was involved in tap dancing, ballet and gymnastics. Then in junior high school, my parents moved us to the beautiful countryside of Tennessee where I found no access to the kinds of physical activity I had grown to love. One day I was performing splits and cartwheels in front of my mother’s friends and I remembered one of them saying “we use to be able to do all that”. I couldn’t understand how that could happen and thus begin my personal journey in the fitness industry. Throughout my years I became a fixture at the local gyms, fitness centers and yoga studios. I started my professional career as a group fitness instructor in my late teens with AFAA (Athletics and Fitness Association of America). I traveled over seas where I taught servicemen and women at a military base in Ramstein Germany. It was during that time I received the Humanitarian award by a four-star general for saving the life of a fellow co-worker by performing the Heimlich maneuver. Several years later, I was diagnosed with Ovarian cancer. I believe the role of my healthy diet and fitness played a large part of my success of beating the disease as I saw others in my group succumb to it. This fueled my interest in a healthy lifestyle for myself and others. I currently hold an ACE Group Fitness Instructor, Personal Trainer, and Nutrition Specialist certification. I also hold an American Red Cross Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED certificate.
